You can find every info about exams here: http://qt.nokia.com/learning/certification/ Anyway: The registration is free, the exam itself is 150EUR. The exam is computer based (multiple choice). (these are not secrets, every info from the Qt site)

I agree with Andre and utcenter. If you only know enough to narrowly pass a certification test then it doesn't really prove you know anything but how to pass a test. The entire point of certification is to certify that you have an certain level of knowledge in a given topic. If you learn Qt, and practice developing with it, then you will easily pass the exam. If you can't pass the exam, then you haven't the knowledge you need to be certified. So, in short: use the videos, use the books, use the forums, use the documentation... and code, code, code.

There are no online tests and so on, because the exam questions are under DNA (aka: secret). The "essential" exam is relatively not difficult (but the other two "specialist" exams are much harder).

There has been a "discussion":http://qt-project.org/forums/viewthread/9817 about online cerificate verification, but I don't know if there has been any progress yet. As disappointing as this may sound, but I do think the problem is on the part of the companies you apply to, not on yours. All certificates contain your name, a candidate id and a certificate id which can be for sure used to manually verify your certificate asking PearsonVue or Nokia - if the companies wanted to do that in the first place.

I am already contributing to the collective knowledge base in other ways, but I cannot at the moment commit to helping you out with creating new wiki pages. I wish you a lot of luck with that enterprise though! The community would benenfit from having good wiki pages created on things like this. Andre, not only you :) Another exam is always something good.

I agree with Andre. A random UUID plus a captcha are enough to avoid "brute force attacks" (if any). Having the online lookup configurable is a nice plus. Maybe I'm a bit naive, but I don't actually see many privacy issues... what's exactly the problem in having Nokia to confirm that the certificate with id XYZ belonging to John Doe is authentic?
