I just received some spam from "info@qt.io" and I would like to not have that happen anymore.
After logging in I get redirected to account.qt.io. There are some options there (like changing the email address) but none related to "newsletter" or "marketing" or similar.

There is an "unsubscribe" link (with like half a kilobyte of tracking data) at the bottom of that email but it links to hubspotemail.net, which I don't know, don't trust and don't want to be associated with. And generally it's always a great idea to click on random links in random emails.
But aside from all that, there should just be a setting I can toggle in my account settings, because that's good practice.

I'm also gonna jab at you because I know that I did NOT check the "Send me news and information on Qt products and services. Check out our privacy policy." checkbox when I created the account. That's super uncool!

@jsulm Did you write the code that ignores the checkbox? Then yes, I mean you. Otherwise, no, I don't jab at you. The "you" was directed at "whoever is responsible".

I created an account for this forum, from this forum. Literally by clicking "Login" at the top right when visiting forum.qt.io, and then "Create Qt Account". For me, as the end user, the technicalities of what company is behind what parts of the site doesn't really matter. I registered to the forum, I said "don't give me spam", I got spam.

You have to contact the Qt Company, this is a Qt users forum, where Qt users (try) to help other Qt users.

Alright, I made a mistake when conflating two issues in one topic.
I created a separate topic for the question of how to opt out of the newsletter: https://forum.qt.io/topic/132958/opt-out-of-email-spam
And I changed the title of this current topic to reflect this. That is, this current topic should address the fact that the account creation page ignores the state of the "Send me news and information on Qt products and services. Check out our privacy policy." checkbox and thus I receive the newsletter even though this checkbox was not checked.

@jsulm @KroMignon Can you please re-evaluate your answers in the context of each issue separately?

                Hi,

This does not change the fact that you are barking at the wrong tree.

This forum has nothing to do with the account handling. The account managing that gives you access to this forum is done by the Qt Company, hence you should raise the problem to them as as was already explained, this is a Qt user forum driven by volunteers.

No, there is nothing to revaluate for the first issue, second was answered by @SGaist . I am just an user in this forum, just like you are - no idea why you still think I can do anything about your issue...
