I believe the "necro'd threads request" part of the forum is that-a-way.
I am not surprised at all that the previous contractor has just left them without a word. The answers and the original post would make me want to leave, too, although not without a word for fairness.
On the contrary, he was out of his depth and could not deliver. A cursory glance of the work he submitted to date showed a distinct lack of ability and a great deal of copy-paste coding.
Honestly, we aren't around to be buddies with the people we work with. If you want friends go to a church group or go to gym or something. There's absolutely no need to conflate the two roles. If you can't deal with working with people who are at the top of their game, and thus demanding and direct (and pay proportionally higher because of that), then you aren't the sort that would be working with us anyway.
At any rate, we found a small boutique Qt dev house that we are enjoying working with immensely. Constantly resurrecting this thread just to spew puerile nonsense in the hopes of boosting whatever semblance of self-worth you are trying to attain is, frankly, quite tiring.

Actually, copy-pasting is not ultimately bad, so this does not yet qualify the contractor without details. It can be perfectly reasonable to copy/paste an example and customize it.

That is the kind of atmosphere in which many people would not like to work, including me. My colleagues are my buddies, too!

I do not see any track record for you in Qt, etc, so I am not sure of what games you are on the top. As for the salary, we cannot know without providing any information. It might very well be low or average. It is impossible to tell without details.
In any case, as a Qt contractor along the years, I had come across situations where the clients thought they would pay well and be on the top of their game until we began to discuss the details....
bq.

I am not sure that even an expert could accomplish the best in such an environment.

Guys, please calm down. You obviously see the world in different ways, which is normal, and you show signs of uniqueness and confirmation biases. Please stop before this spins out of control.

Yes it's better to stop this. Hence this forum is public and everybody is watching this and it makes a bad image to outside.
