URGENT: C/C++ Qt developer required
-
that does not mean your post was OK for some people or that it was on the same level as other job posts. Please take a look at some other good job posts to get inspiration.
You should also read the hints and rules at the top of the jobs topic:
http://qt-project.org/forums/viewthread/1724/
I understand and appreciate you have found a team, but you cannot be sure whether you have missed out even better people due to this.
See how even more confusing the post was: "you have found a team", whereas the original post speaks about one developer.

As I made abundantly clear, it would simply not have been possible to elaborate much without everyone who reads these forums signing an NDA. I trust this settles the conversation, as I have neither the time nor the inclination to continue it. Have a good week further.
-
I have never seen NDA'd job specs in order to be clear, but if that is the way, perhaps it is better to avoid this forum as I think people rightfully expect decent information here.
@kgazda probably had interest in the position to remain less critical than others since he has a Qt consultancy company, but not everyone is like that.
My honest and sincere request is that please be fair with the candidates. Remember that hiring is a two-way process rather than one-way.
You came here to get help with finding candidates, so in my opinion it is your interest to play as the community here wishes, rather than trying to sneak away from the hints and rules linked.
PS.: Fwiw, I have just tried to look up your Qt track record on github, twitter, gitorious, stackoverflow and so on, but I have not found any with this name...
-
The job posting lacked some information, but at the same time I assume sending info and signing an NDA does not do any harm and if people are really interested in an opening, they will dig deep and will get everything what's there to be learned.
I am not less critical, I just have been on both sides (developer , employer ) for few years and can understand some lack of information here and there.
Still, I agree that much more info could have been provided in the job posting.

bq. I will be dealing with this engagement directly. If you are not a known entity (Twitter, Github, these forums, anything) with verifiable projects, please do not bother contacting me. If you are going to send me screenshots of someone else’s project and I am not able to easily verify that you were involved, please do not bother contacting me. If you are not comfortable using an escrow service (negotiable if you are incredibly well known to the point of fame;) please do not bother contacting me. If you only have a few years experience with Qt please do not bother contacting me. If you are unable to dedicate time to this project immediately please do not bother contacting me.
In fact you gonna find it very hard to contact me. Now, do you understand everything I've just said? Good, because if ya don't, please do not bother contacting me.

I believe the "necro'd threads request" part of the forum is that-a-way.
I am not surprised at all that the previous contractor has just left them without a word. The answers and the original post would make me want to leave, too, although not without a word for fairness.
On the contrary, he was out of his depth and could not deliver. A cursory glance of the work he submitted to date showed a distinct lack of ability and a great deal of copy-paste coding.
Honestly, we aren't around to be buddies with the people we work with. If you want friends go to a church group or go to gym or something. There's absolutely no need to conflate the two roles. If you can't deal with working with people who are at the top of their game, and thus demanding and direct (and pay proportionally higher because of that), then you aren't the sort that would be working with us anyway.
At any rate, we found a small boutique Qt dev house that we are enjoying working with immensely. Constantly resurrecting this thread just to spew puerile nonsense in the hopes of boosting whatever semblance of self-worth you are trying to attain is, frankly, quite tiring.

Actually, copy-pasting is not ultimately bad, so this does not yet qualify the contractor without details. It can be perfectly reasonable to copy/paste an example and customize it.

That is the kind of atmosphere in which many people would not like to work, including me. My colleagues are my buddies, too!

I do not see any track record for you in Qt, etc, so I am not sure of what games you are on the top. As for the salary, we cannot know without providing any information. It might very well be low or average. It is impossible to tell without details.
In any case, as a Qt contractor along the years, I had come across situations where the clients thought they would pay well and be on the top of their game until we began to discuss the details....

I am not sure that even an expert could accomplish the best in such an environment.

Guys, please calm down. You obviously see the world in different ways, which is normal, and you show signs of uniqueness and confirmation biases. Please stop before this spins out of control.

Yes it's better to stop this. Hence this forum is public and everybody is watching this and it makes a bad image to outside.
