    Hi,

Apologies if this question has been asked before. I've searched but couldn't find a relevant topic.

I'm working with a platform that provides its own event loop. It is based on Unix/Linux. The traditional way to build an X Windows application on this platform is to get a file descriptor using the X11 ConnectionNumber() function, use select() to wait until there is activity on this file descriptor and then retrieve any pending events and handle them (or have X handle them).

Is there something comparable in Qt? A way to wait for activity on a file descriptor and then have Qt handle incoming events? Or am I completely barking up the wrong tree here?

      Hi,

Maybe QAbstractEventDispatcher could be a starting point.
