The main argument usually used is that Microsoft first of all promoting the Windows Phone platform, and .NET framework, and as a consequence is rejection of Qt in this market segment.
If there be a consolidation of two companies, analysts predict the closure of Qt development.

I think, hardly probable, because Qt is very useful for multiplatform development.
