I'm trying to port jQuery watter-ripple effect (http://sirxemic.github.io/jquery.ripples/) to QtCanvas3D, but found out that OES_texture_float extension is necessary for it to work properly. This extension is not present when using Canvas3D, however it works flawlessly (minus performance issues) when opened in Qt WebView. Hence my question, how exactly QtCanvas3D and WebView WebGL engines differ, and is OES_texture_float implementation planned for Canvas3D?

You should bring that topic on the interest mailing list. You'll find there Qt's developers/maintainers (this forum is more user oriented)
