Yes that's incredible to invest like this and just after trash it like this ...

I really hopes that a "Software Developping" Company will buy Trolltech soon ... But I am afraid that the strategy of Nokia is more to use Qt before the death of Symbian ... then trash it when the transition is over ...
Clearly since few years development where turn to mobile, desktop was not a first class citizen in qt roadmap ... So :(

They did with Meego/Maemo - and that was not cheap too. I would not bet a single penny on this. Always keep in mind that the rationale behind those decisions is not to satisfy customers or developers, but the analysts and shareholders. The quarterly report for the stock exchange is everything they have to care for.

i have to say this is a sad day, i was just ramping up my skills for QT, but now the future is bleak at best, being a Window C++ developer by profession I have to say this is one union i am not happy to see

i have no idea what to think about nokia or QT going forward

I hope there will be some official announcements the next days, next week. From my opinion, also the Trolls have to think about the new sirtuation...

Hopefully, for desktop environment, it will stay and be extended.

If that also happens for mobiule platforms, we will see.

But the man has a company to save and made the best decision he can in the situation. We may not like it, but we don't have to vent by mangling persons' names and other childish means.

what's about an open letter to Nokia Shareholder (-16 % share at this time ), to finnish govermnent, European Union that has invest more than 22 millions € in Symbian (http://www.digitaltrends.com/mobile/europe-invests-in-symbian-its-smartphone-os-of-choice/) to explain the non sense of this resell to microsoft, the big invest that go to trash ...

He (and the board, lets not forget that) made the worst possible decision ever. Any other operating system (Android, MeeGo or webOS) is a better choice than Windows Phone. Who "loves" Bing and Office, seriously? Proprietary systems only work for companies that do a 100% integration like Apple.

WP7 only exists because Microsoft has a "magic" supply of money that they can afford to waste on a toy that exists solely to hurt Apple and Google. If MS grows tired of it, Nokia will be left out in the cold.

Nokia has now become just another LG.
