QtCreator Multiple Help Documentation Versions
-
QtCreator Help indexing offers me three different versions of any topic I ask for, even though I have only one version of Qt, 6.10.1 now installed. It offers versions 6.8.3 and 6.8.5 even though I removed versions these long ago.
The Maintentance Tool doesn't seem to have any control over the help documentation.
So I tried the following:
- Edit->Preferences->Help->Documentation: select all the "683" and "685" items and "remove" them. This doesn't work. The items persist.
- Uninstall QtCreator. Install QtCreator. Try step 1 again. Doesn't work.
- Uninstall QtCreator, delete AppData/Local/QtProject and AppData/Roaming/QtProject, QtProject.1 and QtProject.2. Install QtCreator. Doesn't work, the old version items persist.
Using these steps has succeeded for me in the past in reducing the number of versions offered by QtCreator Help to a mere three, from a high of seven. But I can't make any further progress. It's not a show-stopper, of course, and it's great to have such persistent help and support, but I would really like to reduce the number of Help versions to just the one version of Qt I have installed.
Can anyone suggest a way to achieve this please?
It may be relevant that the Maintenance Tool insists that I have 6.8.3 installed when I don't, or at least don't have any files for that version. Uninstalling 6.8.3 doesn't work. It remains checked in the Maintenance Tool.

Try running the maintenance tool with
--show-virtual-componentsswitch. It shows docs and examples as separate items in this mode. I had a similar issue some time ago where uninstalling a version wouldn't remove its documentation and in this mode it showed up and allowed me to remove it.If that doesn't work then just open your Qt install directory and there's a Docs folder in there with all the versions. Delete the ones you don't need.

Thanks, that's very helpful.
The Maintenance Tool with --show-virtual-components shows documentation and examples, as you say. Very useful. My Qt/Docs folder contains only a 6.10.1 subfolder. But I continue to get 6.8.5 docs offered.
My Maintenance Tool, when set to show "Latest supported releases" lists 6.10.1, 6.9.3, 6.8.3, 6.7.3, 6.5.3 which seems wrong because the 6.8 version should be 6.8.5 I think. All except 6.10.1 are empty.
I suspect my Maintenance Tool installation is broken, so I will try reinstalling that.
