Please confirm that posting in "lounge" is about anything BUT coding...

After many years participating in ANOTHER "lounge" in popular coding forum I need to ask this FIRST before jeopardizing my posting status here.
Reading "lounge" posts does not support such view.
Am I wrong? Is this a place to went or ask coding questions ?

Please confirm that posting in "lounge" is about anything BUT coding...
Not "anything BUT", you can still discuss coding but people usually bring specific questions to their respective forums (e.g. General and desktop / C++ gurus). The lounge is more "relaxed", just like a regular lounge, not as much Q&A as regular chat/blowing off steam and sipping coffee sort o' place.

I don't know what this even means ...
Is this a place to went or ask coding questions ?
If you feel like it. Although specific (enough) questions are usually better answered in their respective subforums, this doesn't preclude having a general/relaxed discussion about it. Think of the lounge as the place where everything that doesn't have a place goes (except the ever-present spam, and personal malice, which isn't much tolerated). Most of us are a pretty lenient bunch you're probably going to observe.

Thanks for setting me straight.
So far my attempt to post here in "appropriate forum" has met with mixed results.
I was hoping for some real help and after few very helpful "answers" it seems I have stumbled into typical forum where participants do not read the posts and instead of helping go off the subject.
My second post was actually locked before I received some help.
I asked specific question which the administrator did not bother to read.Overall - I am not impressed and will probably seek help with Qt somewhere else.
Cheers

Hi @AnneRanch,
My second post was actually locked before I received some help.
It seems you refer to https://forum.qt.io/topic/107432/path-to-cloned-examples
Well,
- you got an answer there: "don't clone repos as root".
- I clearly stated why I did lock that topic: Creating three different topics to essentially the same question helps nobody. People trying to help you don't know the steps you did so far, so the might give the same answer again and again - and that's what you don't want - do you?
I asked specific question which the administrator did not bother to read.
You already got some real good answers - but then you did not read what was told you.
instead of helping go off the subject.
We do that if we see that the way you want to go is a dead end and want to take you into a better direction.
So again: Why do you want to install examples by cloning a git repository? You can easily install the examples by using the online installer [1] - completely set up for usage. That was told you by two forum members here [2][3].
If you don't want to use that and rather install Qt by the packages of your operating system - you are free to do so. These usually package examples into different files, so you need to search for the correct one you need.
Also depending on your OS, the Qt version might be pretty old and not contain all the features you are expecting. That's one reason more to use the online installer.
Best regards

@AnneRanch
I did read your other topic. I think your "expectations" for the answer you sought were "unrealistic", or some such appropriate word.I do not want to aggravate you, or start any kind of flame war, but I did just want to observe hopefully for your benefit in the nicest way that:
Overall - I am not impressed and will probably seek help with Qt somewhere else.
I believe you will find that this forum is the best place to get user-community help on all things Qt. You can ask on stackoverflow if your question is very specific. Otherwise there is not a lot else out there, just so you know.
All the Best.
