I must use QGraphicsProxyWidget because i need to flip the application of 180°! I'm in an embedded system with petalinux where i can't use a window system like x11 and so the rotation has to take place at a higher level (in the qt code)...
The previous code with the if statement works quite well...sometimes it doesn't receive the multitouch but it's decent! I just don't understand why if i pass the TouchBegin to QGraphicsVIew::viewportEvent(event) no TouchUpdate arrives...instead if i return true TouchUpdate and End arrive...

It's an application that runs on a big screen that people will use standing up. So they will be using touch rather than a keyboard.

The reason for Windows 7 is that the application will need to attach to hardware, D2K-DASK http://www.adlinktech.com/PD/web/PD_detail.php?pid=350. The hardware drivers are only guaranteed for Windows 7 and 8. Its possible it might work on Windows 10 anyway but it's not clear.

Also, they want to use a touch number pad for number only entry. Not sure how much extra effort that would involve? I just found this artical http://www.cplusplus.com/forum/windows/128603/ , is ok?

As I now understand it there is no easy way to recognize gestures inside the c++ part of a Qt Quick 'QQuickPaintedItem' inherited class, is that correct?

I need both pan and pinch in my c++ class so if i dont want to write my own recognition code should I then inherit my class from both 'QQuickPaintedItem', PinchArea and Flickable? that doesn't seem right? (besides that they are declared in private header files like qquickpincharea_p.h)

Yes I'm using 5.8 and 5.9 beta is fixing this issue! Thanks for pointing it out! For some reason I didn't find this bug!

@dzimiwine I tested 5.5.0 beta and it works fine

@Andrei-Pushkin I'm with the same problem. But, My touch is not working in tslib (ts_calibrate or ts_test). If I run the evtest, it works perfectly. Did you use some adicional package in your yocto conf (local.conf) file ?
